The meme is not a recent discovery. It is a word that became a part of literary usage in the earlier 70s era. According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, they are originally known as the cultural units of transfer and with the passage of time, flourished into some ideas that catch on and pass between people via culture.

Today, however, the definition of it has evolved so much that the word itself has become an epitome of creative ideas. People today think of it as more than just a word and several images sprung in front of our eyes the moment we start talking about memes or the so-called ‘meme culture. Pondering on some memes and their connection with the current generation, some points here surely will surprise you:

1.Meme as a Weapon

This can be taken in both positive and negative ways. However, the recent trends have shown the growing use of memes to put forward thoughts on political, economical or any other rising topic in a country, or, maybe worldwide.

2. Meme Fame

They are emerging as constructs for anyone who is a part of any viral meme. People hardly get offended if they become a face or in any way a part of this crazy community and even consider themselves lucky. Have you been a part of any meme yet?

3. Cool Blending

Many celebrities had had their shares of jocular moments on various social media platforms sharing memes either made on them or found relatable to, as it happens, their daily life happenings. And to make it more interesting, they blend the word with some other cool words like Madison Dapcevich, a science writer, wrote once in his tweet, making an amalgamation of two words into ‘meme-tastic’.

4. Spreading Happiness

In times of worldwide pandemic, people from every corner of the world stay connected via smartphones etc. The unexpected crisis which was slowly spreading fear amongst people created a sense of remorse and emptiness. To fill the gap, memes acted as a source of happiness and provided connectivity to them.

Being limpid with this new culture can also backfire on you. Always know that you are putting something out there for the whole world to see. It is very vital to remain sensitive while posting any kind of meme. It shouldn’t be hurtful to anyone.

Let’s hope that this happy online fest continues forever and keep giving us amusing rib ticklers every day!
